The Dry Creek Vineyard “SAG” Cabernet is from the 2008 vintage and boasts a beautiful dark purple color. It’s sourced 100% from the Dry Creek Valley appellation and is predominantly Cabernet. The aromas lift from the glass and feature deep black fruits, framed with new leather, and slight roasted coffee. The palate bears the hallmarks of Classic Sonoma Cabernet; sweet, ripe juicy blackberry fruit, minerals, licorice, and such a wonderful tactile sensation of powdery, dusty ripe tannins. Balanced acids provide structure. This is delicious, wonderful Cabernet that lives up to Dry Creek Vineyards consistent standards of excellence.

That's a neat little find!
Yeah, the first magnum I got was the Holiday selection I received as my Vintner's Select Club shipment. After that, they ran a special with $1 shipping – an offer I couldn't refuse. 🙂 It was definitely one of those "twist your arm" moments…
So did you open this for company? Or do you plan on drinking it over a couple of nights?
I hardly ever buy magnums because I just can't find a good reason to open them.
When we entertain, it's usually with just one other couple and we prefer to try more bottles of different wines rather than drink a 1.5 of the same thing.
No, I opened it, just for the two of us. We drank it over 2 nights. It's easy for us to split a bottle. I don't buy magnums too often either, mostly because you pay a premium for them and secondly, because good wines in magnum are not that easy to find.
