2020 has been a year like no other! There’s no one anywhere that would dispute that. On this we can agree. In that vein, Tuscan Vines will do something it’s never done before; recap the Tuscan Vines Top 20.
Simply put, below is a list of the Top 20 highest scoring wines of the year that I wrote about on this website. Links to the original article are included. Salute and let’s move forward with strength, serenity and hopes for a brighter 2021.
In starting this list, given all the great wines I’ve tasted, it’s hard to imagine that I rated a grand total of “zero” wines 100 points. The closest was the 2015 Saffredi, but when I looked back, that was actually in December of 2019. The wines included below have scored 96 points or higher during the year. And, in kooky, goofy 2020 fashion – there are actually 24 wines in the list! Why the hell not?

Val di Suga Vigna Spuntali Brunello 2015

Salicutti Piaggione Brunello 2015

Fattoria dei Barbi Vigna Fiore 2010
Fattoria Le Pupille Syrah 2016
Aldo Conterno Barolo Bussia 2015
Donnafugata Mille e una Notte 2015
The final word… It was a year with many great wines. Some of the links above include many wines that are rated 95 points so pick through and search around. Furthermore, many of the above wines are current releases. To source the Brunello 2015 at attractive prices, I suggest visiting Enoteca di Piazza and using my coupon code “FODERA” to receive 10% off.
Here’s to more great wines in the New Year!
Salute!
Hi John,
there were many nice wines you reviewed this year. As I go through the list I realize there are so few I have of the ones listed. I might have to look at adding a few.
As always thank you for the wealth of information and reviews you provide us each year. I have had many enjoyable wines from my cellar that were originally purchased based on your reviews and recommendations.
Well, thank you Joe. Much appreciated. Hopefully we’ll be able to pop a cork together soon enough.
