I discovered Frank Family several years ago on a trip to Napa and have loved their Cabernets ever since. Back then, I was told that they didn’t ship to retailers outside California, but thankfully that seems to have changed.
This beauty is everything one hopes for in a decadent, complex Napa Cabernet. It’s deep blackish purple in the glass and the nose gives off intense aromas of blackberries, licorice, mineral, and slight mint. In the mouth, the fruit is ripe, juicy and full bodied. The flavors follow the nose and there is ample structure provided by the acids. It’s pretty tannic still, so 2-4 years in the cellar would soften this wine nicely. This is delicious and well worth the cost. Locally, I know of at least 3 places carrying it, so finding it shouldn’t be much of a chore. 93 points, about $33.
