I’ve long been a fan of the Terrabianca winery and it’s been enjoyable to see their quality ramp up over the last 10-15 years. With wines from the stellar 2007 vintage in Tuscany beginning to find their way to market, this one was a must try.
The 2007 Terrabianca Campaccio is a lovely super tuscan blend; 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet. In the glass the wine is deep garnet red, with just a hint of lighter color at the rim. I decanted the wine for about an hour before dinner and that seemed to develop the nose of the wine slightly. It’s young of course, but showing lots of floral components to the crushed cherry and berry aromas. In the mouth the wine is ripe, balanced, and delicious with wonderful acids that provide ample structure. Really shined alongside a NY Strip with simple baked potato. This is a must buy for the Tuscan collector. While it’s not something to cellar long term, it will provide ample enjoyment for 5-7 years while your better wines from the vintage can mature. Excellent value at $19. 90 Points.
