Castello Banfi is, without question, among the leaders in the Brunello region. What many people may not realize is the superb and affordable dessert wine they produce from Moscadello grapes called “Florus”.
The 2007 Castello Banfi “Florus” – Late Harvest Moscadello di Montalcino is made from 100% hand harvested Moscadello grapes that have been allowed to air dry on the vines which encourages myriad complexities to develop in the finished wine.
Made in the style of the greatest Vin Santo, Florus is deep gold in the glass. Complex aromas abound and the nature of the wine offers honey, flowers, orange zest, caramel and nut characteristics. In the mouth, the wine is viscous and sweet but with ample acidity to keep the wine from being flabby or cloying. It’s perfectly balanced. Flavors follow the nose, and add a touch of golden raisin along with attractive nut and orange zest flavors. One of the best things in life is to dip rock hard biscotti into vin santo or moscadello for dessert, and this is no exception. Excellent value. 500ml bottle. 92 points, about $22.

John, I've not seen this, but you've made a sale when I do!
The hidden value here is the price. Most Vin Santo are $30+ and 375ml bottles. This one is 500ml and less, so the value is pretty special.
Cheers!
J
